I didn’t even realize it until now, but I view Jay Gatsby and Tom from 500 Days of Summer as great characters that can do no wrong, even though they’re deeply infatuated with horrible, fickle women. I have to keep reminding myself that just as Tom was obsessive and ultimately selfish, Gatsby was not nearly as noble as he claims to be.
